Designing Your Life

Course Description: This course applies the mindsets and innovation principles of design thinking to the "wicked problem" of designing your life and vocation. The course introduces design thinking processes through application: students practice awareness and empathy, define areas of life and work on which hey want to work, ideate about ways to move forward, try small prototypes, and test their assumptions.

Course Description: Designing Your Stanford is a class about getting more out of, rather than cramming more into, Stanford. This course helps Freshmen and Sophomores craft a more fulfilling college experience by sharing practical design thinking tools and ideas.

Designing Black Experiences

Course Description: This discussion-rich course is for students to learn design thinking to more confidently navigate life and careers as members and allies of the Black community. This course will allow students to navigate identity while building community to uplift Black voices through design thinking tools to help leverage their experiences and gain a competitive edge. Students will gain a deeper understanding of intersectionality, how to create and cultivate alignment, and learn to effectively navigate life design schemas, ideas, and options.

Intern Connect / Intern Prepare

Course Description: The class integrates Design Thinking and career education knowledge and tools to help students reflect, identify, and articulate how their internship experience informs their career related goals and next steps. Participating students will walk away with updated job search tools, industry connections, and increased confidence in their ability to identify and interview for future opportunities.

Target Students: Open to undergraduate students.

UHR: Designing Your Work Life

Course Description: This is a pilot experience in collaboration with the University Human Resources department. The program had several goals:

Empower participants to take charge of their careers and inspire them to build fulfilling professional lives. Increase participants’ optimism about generating, exploring, and navigating career possibilities. Improve participants’ engagement in their role at Stanford. Improve capabilities with career management skills such as networking, career prototyping, and storytelling to support career mobility and advancement. Help improve retention among pilot participants.

Target Students: Open to staff at Stanford.

Designing Your Stanford (Prototype)

Course Description: Designing Your Stanford is a class about getting more out of, rather than cramming more into, Stanford. This course helps Freshmen and Sophomores craft a more fulfilling college experience by sharing practical design thinking tools and ideas. This is the prototype curriculum we ran with a new framework and additional activities in Winter 2023.
